The tories are up to their old tricks again. Teresa May has put Ann Taylor in charge of heading up the select committee tasked with scrutinising the Communications Data Bill. (A piece of legislation that gives GCHQ full legal remit to bulk intercept all digital data sent from or to the UK.)
Ann Taylor is a board member of Thales, a defence contractor that specialise in surveillance and cyber security equipment. She was also the chief whip in the labour government that passed the first data communications bill.
If anyone was hoping for an impartial review of the legislation then tough, it isn’t getting one. Tin foil hats at the ready.
